Just added some of my favourites to the shop!
Click HERE to check them out.
SPINACH, PEAR + CHERRY
MARCH 30, 2016
Playing around with more pattern design.
I was going to make separate ones for these last few fruits & veggies, but now I'm thinking I like them all put together in one!
DAY 27 & 28: CARROT + BEET
MARCH 28, 2016
Busy Easter weekend with lots of fun, family time! It was a gorgeous day out yesterday, almost warm enough to paint outside. I'm counting the days until I can bring all my supplies out on the deck and practically live out there. I snuck in this little painting session in the morning and I'm so glad I did....carve out time for art. :-)
DAY TWENTY SIX: LIME
MARCH 26, 2016
Working on another tea towel print with these cute little lime wedges!
DAY TWENTY FIVE: RASPBERRY
MARCH 25, 2016
Having so much fun playing with these little cutouts!
Working on lots of pattern designs this month!
DAY TWENTY FOUR: SQUASH
MARCH 24, 2016
So many beautiful shapes and colours.
I love how many varieties there are to choose from - I ran out of space on my page!
DAY TWENTY THREE: MANGO
MARCH 23, 2016
dAY TWENTY TWO: BLUEBERRY
march 22, 2016
I'm obsessed with making patterns! I think this could be another fun tea towel design!
DAY TWENTY ONE: TOMATO
march 21, 2016
Having fun playing with all the different warm tones in today's heirloom tomatoes!
I don't usually use a lot of red in my florals so it's great to to mix up the palette a bit.
DAY TWENTY: ASPARAGUS
MARCH 20, 2016
DAY NINETEEN: ORANGE
MARCH 19, 2016
DAY EIGHTEEN: POMEGRANATE
MARCH 18, 2016
These pretty pomegranates would make another cute tea towel print!
DAY SEVENTEEN: APPLE
MARCH 17, 2016
Yummy Gala apples for today's piece!
mARCH 16, 2016
I love the blue and yellow palette in today's piece!
DAY FIFTEEN: MUSHROOM
MARCH 15, 2016
To be honest, I wasn't really looking forward to the browns and greys of today's mushrooms. I love happy colours! But surprisingly it was really fun mixing different tones in there...some soft green & a little magenta here and there...even the darkest parts I made with my favourite winsor violet. In the end I'm pretty pleased with these little guys!
DAY FOURTEEN: WATERMELON
march 14, 2016
I love watermelon & these pretty pink slices are making me dream of summer!
DAY THIRTEEN: EGGPLANT
MARCH 13, 2016
I'm loving all this purple!
A painted a couple of these but this composition was my favouite.
I don't often work horizontally in watercolour (I don't know why?) but it was fun playing with different groupings and varying sizes + shapes.
DAY TWELVE: PEACH
MARCH 12, 2016
Peaches + Blossoms! Made this one to go with my lemons from day 10.
DAY ELEVEN: RADISH
MARCH 11, 2016
This one was so fun! I love any chance I get to add purples + pinks :)
DAY TEN: LEMON
MARCH 10, 2016
Loved adding the little hits of pink in the lemon blossoms.
One of my favourites so far!
DAY NINE: AVOCADO
MARCH 9, 2016
Playing around with a bit more abstraction today!
DAY EIGHT: GRAPEFRUIT
MARCH 8, 2016
I didn't have much time today so I just sort of dove into today's piece without much idea of what I was going to do. There are parts I love about this one and parts I'm not so sure about, but I definitely want to try another version!
DAY SEVEN: BROCCOLI
march 7, 2016
Adding big puddles of green for the top of my broccoli. I love coming back and seeing how those pretty colour bleeds form as it dries....just one of many things I adore about watercolour.
DAY SIX: GRAPES
march 6, 2016
Having fun with these purple grapes!
I was getting some questions about how to get the saturation for dark colours without them looking too flat. Good quality paint makes a huge difference in my mind, also, I never use black.
My Winsor &Newton Dioxazine Purple is my go-to for mixing deep colours. It's so intense right out of the tube, and mixing in some phthalo green or a little blue can create some brilliant rich hues.
DAY FIVE: KIWI
march 5, 2016
I love my little kiwi slices! They'd be so sweet as a tea towel print.
DAY FOUR: PINEAPPLE
MARCH 4, 2016
Having too much fun with these pineapples today.
I had to cheat a little & sneak some florals in there somewhere!
march 3, 2016
Feeling much better about today.
Quiet, peaceful morning here with the sun streaming in the kitchen windows.
I just had to sit down and paint in the light!
DAY TWO: pEAS
march 2, 2016
Painting messy sugar snap peas!
Switching from my usual florals the past few days hasn't been easy - I've been feeling more critical of myself than usual and a little nervous to share. I don't think these little peas are my best, but I have to remind myself this is just supposed to be fun! Trying to quiet the negativity here today and just focus on the process - it doesn't have to be perfect.
The point is to play and try something new.
DAY ONE: STRAWBERRIES
MARCH 1, 2016
Had some fun sketching strawberries before starting my day working on new oils.
Not sure about this composition yet, but I loved adding bits of the greenery stems & the lighter, un-ripened berries. I'll have to come back to this idea later.
Happy March 1st everyone!
MARCH MARKET MEDLEY
MARCH 1, 2016
It's official. I'm addicted to watercolour challenges.
I'm so excited to team up with my friend, Jenn Manship (@jenmanship) to host March Market Medley this month! For the next 31 days we'll be painting a variety of fruits & veggies (see the complete list below). I'll be posting my daily creations here and on Instagram (@stephaniefehrenbach). Feel free to follow us along or even join in yourself!
The hubby and I have been dreaming of starting a veggie garden for a while now, so I figured this would be the perfect inspiration to get it started. Can't wait!
